The Big Gig

So I'm skiving off writing an assignment right now, and I've been not well this week, ridiculously tired...

Pretty shitty feeling, really.

Not much work so I've watched the rest of my X-Files DVDs. Nice.

Been working on a new track for KLOK as well as organising for Arts Weekend that is on this weekend. The others (Tigris, Panic, Katt) are down in Sydney at present for Supanova Sydney. KLOK is the resident band at Arts Weekend this year, so I am not going down. We get to make doof for adoring(?) fans though, so maybe it's okay.

Bleargh. I changed my dissertation topic to "Performance Practice in Contemporary Electronic Music : Engaging the Audience". There's just more literature on it than my old topic. Admittedly there's still bugger-all, but there's more bugger-all than "Music Technology and it's Effects on The Composition of Music for Picture". I just need to finish this thingy now and get it handed in before I have to go up Mt. Tamborine.

I realise that I have not been whinging about girls lately. I believe this is because while I still care, I'm currently kind of over the whole "oh woe is me thing." I discount certain potential females that I meet because I make an assessment on their maturity after meeting them a few times and I think that the fact that I make regular mention of "The cross I am forced to bear" leads to girls that I may consider or who may consider me to make the same judgement. At any rate I figure if I want to have some kind of healthy romantic relationship perhaps I should start making some effort to cultivate the image that I possess some relational health to begin with.

Or I could just walk around with $100 notes hanging out of my fly.

The Truth is Out There... A Little To The Left. Stop. Go Back. Near The Kettle.

So I have the first four seasons of The X-Files, thanks to JB HiFi and their nice cheap bin scab DVD sales.

I'm about two or three episodes into the third season. Fave episodes so far would have to be "Blood" - Hallucinogens in the populace and hidden electronic triggers.

KILL.
KILL 'EM.
KILL 'EM ALL.

Or something.

Anyways it's all good and I'll probably buy the other seasons too. I know people think it started to suck after season 3 or season 1 or whatever, but I like it and it was a series that started when I started high school and also co-incided with my first usage of the internet. I used to hang on alt.tv.x-files and I just remembered something and googled it. I present Agent Pat Gonzales Dossier on the X-Files and I remember trying to download this in its original incarnation (one massive html doc with GIF screen captures) and being defeated by Netscape v1.0 (pulsating blue 'N' flayva) when it couldn't fit the whole HTML file on one floppy. So it's one of those things I remember in a variety of circumstances. I remember watching X-Files in the Palmer Dormitory at school, I remember watching it at home on the holidays and the pain in the arse when the Anasazi end-of-season-two cliff hanger occurred. I remember lining up for ages to meet Gillian Anderson at Westfield in 1995. I remember reading some X-Files graphic novels somewhere once.

And these act as launching points for remembering other sequences of memories.

It sounds kind of sad, I guess. If you know, you're like, too cool to have been into the X-Files, but it's true.

Walkies!!!

STEPS : 6093 | KM : 2.7 | CALORIES : 827

In an effort to regain my once slim and girlish figure (ie, the figure of a prepubescent girl as opposed to the strapping Russian peasant girl I exhibit now), I have started doing some walking and such.

To that end I bought a pedometer on the way home from work today and henceforth will be posting my stats each day. Like you care. And once a week we'll see what my work has wrought.

I hate being almost 22.

I was driving over to Geebung today to deliver a PA and there were a bunch of Clayfield College girls in uniform running in the rain.

*sigh*

Let's Sit Back And Wait

Well I put my application in for WWDC today. We'll have to see how it goes.

Since last year I've been teaching myself how to program in ObjC and Cocoa and I'm working on two apps, but I have to see whether or not the AUC thinks it's worth sending me again. I hope they do because now I have a better idea of how it goes so I can make even more use of it... Get there earlier for starters so I can get over the jetlag. And I have a job so I could stoppover somewhere on the way there or back I suppose.

I do have a rather spiffing entry in the Apple Design Awards this year, but we'll have to see what happens with it too. If we get a nomination or something I think someone mentioned last year that we'd get a shot at WWDC this year, but I'm not sure.

While my iBook is away I'm back to working on the iMac. Rendering sure does take a while, but I can't get Photoshop or GoLive to install on this machine. Also I keep mistyping stuff because actually have to push the keys down on this one where as on the iBook it seems as though my hands effortlessly glide over the keys.

BLANKET APOLOGY FOR MY APALLING SPELLING TO ANYONE I'VE BEEN IMing WITH THIS WEEK
I hope I get the iBook back soon.
